(Helaman)

• Kishkumen seeks to kill Helaman, but Helaman’s friend “has his back.” (Helaman 2:6-9)
• Christ is merciful to those who are sincere and call on His holy name; Church prospered beyond belief with baptisms. (Helaman 3:25-28) (Search: *Church, *Prosperity)
• The word of God will lead a man to navigate safely thru the wiles of the devil; The devil has a course which leads to everlasting misery and engulfs the wicked. (Helaman 3:29) (Search: *Devil, *Scriptures)

(4 Nephi)

• They had all things in common. (4 Nephi 1:3) (Note: If we did so in our hearts, there would be no poor among us)
• Love prevents contention. (4 Nephi 1:15) (Note: If we truly love, contention is not part of our demeanor)
• Downfall: pride, costly apparel, fine pearls, goods not in common, classes of people; churches to get gain; denied the true church of Christ. (4 Nephi 1:24-26) (Search: *Apostacy, *DP2)

(Mormon)

• Mormon was a type for the Prophet Joseph Smith. (Mormon chap 1-8)
• Prophets taken because of the willful rebellion of the people. (Mormon 1:13, 16-17)
• Notwithstanding great destruction, the people would not repent of their evils. (Mormon 2:8, 12-13)
• They did not realize it was the Lord that spared them. (Mormon 3:3) (Search: *Blessings)
• It is by the wicked that the wicked are punished. (Mormon 4:5)
• Book of Mormon written to convince the Jews that God will restore them and that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God; Also written to the descendants of the Lamanites who will become a filthy and loathsome people. (Mormon 5:14-15) (Search: *BM)
• Wicked Nephites led by Satan, their blessings were given to others. (Mormon 5:17-19) (Search: *Apostacy)
• The Lord remembers prayers put to him for others. (Mormon 5:21) (Search: *DP1, *Prayer)
• Repent and humble yourselves or be torn asunder. (Mormon 5:22-24) (Search: *Humility, *Repentance)

• Tremendous wickedness of churches when the church is restored in the latter days; people prideful, Ignoring the hungry, the sick, the afflicted, the poor & needy, widows & orphans; A day of great pollutions; in a day when people think they can do anything they want and still be saved. (Ether)

• America choice land; Don’t linger in the world, but move toward the things of God. (Ether 2:7) (Search: *America)
• Those who possess this land must serve God or they will be swept off the face of it. (Ether 2:8-10)
• Choice land; America free from bondage if it serves God; If not, they will be swept off. (Ether 2:10-12) (Search: *America)
• My Spirit will not always strive with man. (Ether 2:15) (Search: *TooLate)
• Two questions for the Lord (1) how do we get light, and (2) how do we breathe? (Ether 2:19) (Note: The Lord answers the 2nd question (V:2), but not the 1st question (V:23 & 25). The Lord told Noah what to do (Gen. 6:16), so in Ether 3 the Brother of Jared follows that example. The Lord will not give us revelation on that which we already have)
• Our natures are evil continually. (Ether 3:2) (Note: Yet, the Lord continues to offer revelation)
• Touch these 16 stones with thy finger. The Lord touched them one by one. (Ether 3:4-6) (Search: *Lord, *Miracles)
• Pre-mortal Christ appears to Brother of Jared in spirit; Believe Christ to become sons & daughters. (Ether 3:14-17) (Search: *Body, *Christ, *DP2)
• Believe and the Spirit will manifest itself unto you and you will know these things are true. (Ether 4:1)

• Protection & light if we build our lives as the Lord has commanded. (Ether Chapter 6, specifically 6:10)
• God sent prophets, but the people mocked them. (Ether 7:23-24)
• Secret combinations of murder and power are built by the devil; The Lord will exercise vengeance upon Satan’s secret combinations. (Ether 8:24) (Search: *Satan, *Vengeance, *Wicked)
• Book of Mormon is designed to do away with evil & Satan’s influence upon man. (Ether 8:26) (Search: *BM, *Evil, *Satan)
• Horses & elephants. (Ether 9:19) (Note: Remains of Elephants and their predecessors are found in the La Brea Tar Pits in California; Horses prior to Columbus? – Paleontology pioneer Joseph Leidy discovered horse skeletons embedded in American soil in the 1830s. They were dated to be the oldest of any found in the world. According to Collin’s dissertation, the American scientific community was outraged and questioned his findings. Ultimately, they were forced to accept the evidence he provided)
• A message for America. Choice land; destroyed if wicked. (Ether 9:20) (Search: *America)
• They were industrious and, thus, were blessed by the Lord with great prosperity. (Ether 10:22, 28)
• Consequence of sin. (Ether 11:1-2, 12-13, 20-22) (Note: Over and over again prophets were sent to the people, warning them of the consequences of their sins, but they would not listen-so great destruction was brought upon them. Are we equally disinterested in the warnings of the prophets?)
• No witness until after trial of faith; Faith is something hoped for but not seen; The prophet

• Whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God. (Ether 12:4)

• Charity makes one clean. (Ether 12:36-38) (Note: Hyrum read this passage, and then turned down the leaf on it, just before they went to Carthage to die (and Joseph had said they would die there). It encapsulates what Joseph and Hyrum wanted—namely, for all men to know that they had been faithful, and that their garments were not spotted with the blood of those who rejected them. (See also V:39 – I have seen Jesus and talked with Him face to face.)
• Moroni saw Jesus and talked to him face to face; Christ told Moroni what to do. (Ether 12:39) (Search: *Christ, *DP1)
• Seek this Jesus of whom the prophets have testified. (Ether 12:41)
